DRUMMOND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - An ice bridge connecting the U.S. and Canada on Drummond Island is set to open at the end of the week.

The Canadian Border Patrol plans to begin staffing the reporting station at the Drummond Island Yacht Haven Dock on Friday. The station will be open on the weekends and closed Monday through Thursday due to a lower volume of people using the ice bridge.

The Evening News of Sault Ste. Marie (https://bit.ly/1COsGjr ) reports the opening and closure of the station could change depending on weather and ice conditions.

Travelers entering at another location or outside of the specified hours could be issued a $5,000 fine.
