CHASKA, Minn. (AP) - A southern Minnesota man is accused of choking his girlfriend and biting off part of her ear after earlier setting her cat on fire.

Charges filed in Carver County say Michael Anthony Trudeau threatened to kill the woman during an argument at her apartment in Chaska Sunday. The charges say the 51-year-old began choking her and shoved an umbrella into her mouth. KARE-TV (https://kare11.tv/1zhpgTG ) reports the woman told investigators she bit Trudeau’s finger and he bit off part of her ear.

The woman eventually escaped to the landlord’s apartment and police were called. The woman told officers Trudeau had set her cat on fire three weeks ago, choked it and dismembered the animal. Trudeau’s case has been assigned to the public defender’s office. He’s being held on $1 million cash bail.
