DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover Police say a woman was injured when a man she was acquainted with forced her into a car and drove through a fence.

It happened about 1:40 a.m. Thursday on North Governors Avenue. Police say a man forced the victim into the car, drove recklessly at speeds of up to 80 mph and crashed through a fence in a yard.

Police say the man, 51-year-old Matthew Stanford, tried to run away but was captured by officers. The woman suffered several facial cuts and was treated at a local hospital.

Stanford is charged with vehicular assault and numerous other offenses.
