MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) - Authorities in Muskogee County are investigating what detectives believe was a double murder-suicide involving a mother and her two adult sons.

The Tulsa World reports (https://bit.ly/1D4CvL7 ) the mother was identified as 48-year-old Rebecca Brown. Her two sons were identified as 25-year-old Levi Brown and 24-year-old Garrett Brown.

Muskogee County Sheriff Charles Pearson says an initial investigation indicates the woman apparently fatally shot her sons with a .22-caliber rifle while they slept early Saturday in a residence in the Webber Falls area southeast of Muskogee.

Pearson says the woman then left a suicide note and killed herself. Deputy Ashley Mullen says she called her brother earlier to tell him she was going to commit suicide.

Mullen says Levi and Garrett Brown lived with their mother after both had gone through divorces.
