LOS ANGELES (AP) - A second teenager has been charged with murder in connection with the stabbing death of a student outside an East Los Angeles middle school.

City News Service says the 14-year-old boy was charged Thursday. Investigators believe he provided the knife to another teen who’s charged with stabbing 14-year-old Steven Cruz last week.

Cruz, who attended a nearby high school, had dropped by Griffith Middle School after class to visit friends when he was stabbed in the chest.

The 13-year-old reputed gang member suspected of stabbing Cruz appeared in juvenile court on Wednesday to deny the murder charge and gang and weapon allegations.

The names of the suspects haven’t been released because they’re minors.
