MAMMOTH, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say three people are dead and four others injured as a result of a head-on collision on a state highway in a rural area of southern Arizona.

The state Department of Public Safety says the accident occurred Friday morning on State Route 77 between Mammoth and Dudleyville.

DPS spokesman Greg Mehr says the collision involved a pickup and a van but that no additional information is immediately available.

The state Department of Transportation says the highway was closed after the accident but that it’s been partially reopened with traffic sharing one alternating lane of travel.
