SPRINGERVILLE, Ariz. (AP) - A Michigan forest official has been named as an acting supervisor for eastern Arizona forests.

The U.S. Forest Service said Thursday that Clare Mendelsohn will serve as interim deputy forest supervisor of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests starting next month.

Mendelsohn has been a public service team leader on the Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula since August 2013.

Mendelsohn says she is looking forward to addressing the cutting-edge challenges that face the Apache-Sitgreaves.

She will serve for a 120-day detail.
