LOWELL, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway crews will close lanes on Interstate 49 near Lowell next week so they can build a barrier between the roadway and a construction area along Arkansas 264.

The temporary barrier will be built along the southbound shoulder overnight Monday into Tuesday, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Similar work will be done in northbound lanes Tuesday night into Wednesday, also from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The work will reduce the interstate to one lane each night. Once the barrier is up, I-49 will have two northbound and southbound lanes during overpass construction on Arkansas 264.
