BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Police in Billings say a stabbing victim is refusing to cooperate with the investigation and won’t identify his attacker.

Lt. Kevin Iffland tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/1yeEENY ) that detectives went to Billings Clinic on Thursday to interview the man who “would not cooperate and told them to leave.”

Iffland says officers likely won’t investigate the case further unless the victim decides to cooperate.

The stabbing happened at about 6 p.m. Wednesday and the victim, a Native American man in his mid-30s, was initially hospitalized in critical condition.

The suspect fled before officers arrived and has not been identified.
