CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (AP) - An explosion blew the top off an asphalt tank Thursday at the Knife River plant in Central Point.

The Mail Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1JUaI11 ) no one was hurt in the blast. Jackson County District 3 firefighters extinguished a fire in about half an hour.

The explosion sheared off nearby power lines and cut power to about 200 customers for about three hours.

A Knife River spokesman, Tony Spilde, says the tank was nearly empty but had about two feet of liquid asphalt in the bottom.
