EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - An Edwardsville police dispatcher is accused of trying to cover up for an officer charged with burglarizing homes and businesses while on duty.

A Madison County grand jury indicted 41-year-old Keri Knight of Bethalto on charges of obstructing justice and theft.

The indictment alleges Knight gave false information to investigators of 41-year-old Brian Barker and hid evidence and stole cash related to the probe.

Barker has pleaded not guilty to 13 felony burglary counts, as well as one count each of aggravated possession of stolen firearms and official misconduct.

Authorities allege he stole money from the register at a spa while on duty and was found to possess seven firearms stolen from individuals and businesses.

Online court records don’t show whether Knight has an attorney. Her phone number is unlisted.
