AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Less than a week after a former special education teacher from Maine was sentenced to a 65-year federal prison sentence for videotaping the sexual abuse of three young boys, he was sentenced to a 50-year state prison sentence on similar charges.

The Kennebec Journal (https://bit.ly/1DmTTry ) reports that Patrik Ian Arsenault was sentenced Thursday in Kennebec County Superior Court after pleading guilty to 10 charges, including distributing images of the assaults via the Internet. The state prison term will run concurrently with the federal sentence.

Judge Robert Mullen said the crimes committed by the 28-year-old Arsenault were the worst he had encountered, calling them repugnant and disgusting.

Arsenault worked with autistic children at Wayne Elementary School. None of victims were his students, but two were brothers ages 6 and 7 diagnosed with autism.
