ONTARIO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old girl during a party at his home in San Bernardino County.

The Sun newspaper says (https://bit.ly/1ETXi2h) 20-year-old Luis Angel Gonzales was taken into custody Thursday at a motel on suspicion of murder. He is being held without bail.

Investigators say Gonzales is suspected of killing Andrea DeRosas during a gathering at his home in Ontario Wednesday night. Circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known.

The newspaper says several people fled after gunfire erupted.

Police say Gonzales and the girl knew each other.

The coroner’s office says DeRosas, a freshman at Chaffey High School, died from a gunshot wound.

Detectives recovered several boxes of evidence, including the handgun that police believe was used in the shooting.
