GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - At the urging of prosecutors, a judge has set bond for a Grand Junction man suspected of molesting eight women and girls at $1 million.

Fifty-three-year-old Larry Dean Church was arrested Wednesday on allegations of nearly two dozen sexual-assault related felonies.

On Thursday, Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger told Judge Craig Henderson that it was the “most aggravated sexual assault case” he has seen in 26 years.

While Church has no felony criminal history and strong ties to the area, The Daily Sentinel (https://bit.ly/1Bz5PEf ) reports Henderson said he couldn’t ignore the number of alleged victims.

The investigation began Dec. 5 after a 21-year-old woman accused Church of touching her inappropriately while she was sleeping after they had been drinking and smoking marijuana. Investigators say seven others then came forward with similar allegations.
