JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Officials say Jackson State University has parted ways with its executive director of communications.

The university’s director of public relations Olivia Goodheart tells The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1ByfdI8) Eric Stringfellow is no longer employed by the university. The reason for the departure is not known.

Goodheart said it was a “personnel matter.”

Rob Jay, who has served as the university’s director of broadcast media, will take over as interim director of communications.

Goodheart says a national search will be conducted for a new executive director, and a deadline has not been set to fill the position.

Stringfellow is a 1982 JSU graduate who played quarterback and wide receiver at the school.
