SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) - A hatchet-wielding man is in custody after allegedly pouring aviation fuel on several small planes at the Sierra Vista Municipal Airport.

Sierra Vista police say 41-year-old Jeffrey Grewell allegedly was trying to coerce a witness to transport him to Minnesota on Friday afternoon but the man refused.

Police responded to a call about a man running around with a hatchet inside the fenced area of the airport.

They say Grewell apparently poured aviation fuel on several planes and attempted to light the fuel with a cigarette lighter.

Police say the Sierra Vista man is being held in the Cochise County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery, terrorism, attempted arson, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal damage.

It was unclear Friday evening if Grewell has a lawyer yet.
