GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - A man who stabbed his wife multiple times in the chest in Greeley has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The Greeley Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1zhd3Qm ) Juan Velasquez-Trinidad was sentenced shortly after he was convicted Friday of first-degree murder.

Police say 47-year-old Martha Velasquez was pronounced dead at a hospital Nov. 22, 2013. Two hours earlier, Velasquez-Trinidad went to the Greeley police department to speak to officers about the crime.

The jury deliberated for about six and half hours before it handed down the verdict.
