OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Officials in and around one Utah city are warning that thin ice isn’t safe for walking, skating or sledding.

The Ogden Fire Department warned the public Wednesday that a late freeze and warm weather has left lakes, ponds, creeks and rivers dangerous for recreation.

Pet owners are also being warned to keep dogs and other animals off unsafe ice.

Weber County Sheriff’s Lt. Lane Findlay tells the Standard-Examiner (https://bit.ly/18CnZ0U ) that ice fishers at Pineview and Causey reservoirs are being advised to never go alone and to pay attention to ice conditions, especially around the edges.
