BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - Some apparently guilt-ridden thieves made it possible for a Montana Boy Scout troop to recover all of the camping gear that was taken when a cargo trailer was stolen from a church parking lot.

Billings Police Lt. Mark Cady tells KULR-TV (https://bit.ly/1JV6fep) that two wall tents, a camp stove and some other small bags were found Friday in a recycling bin outside a grocery store.

On Monday, Scoutmaster Rick Lindholm said the Scouts got back their cargo trailer and most of the gear that was taken on Jan. 12 after someone left a note on a car in the church parking lot saying they felt guilty and giving a location where the trailer and most of the gear could be found.

Police are still investigating the December theft of $3,200 in camping gear from another Scout troop in Billings.
