BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Another slaying in South Carolina has been linked to a child custody dispute.

Media outlets report that prosecutors in Beaufort say a custody fight resulted in the killing of a man there Jan. 9.

Authorities say 38-year-old Anthony Ellison and 21-year-old Jasmine Femia are charged with murder and conspiracy in the shooting death of 30-year-old Nicholas Degros. He was the father of Femia’s son.

The defendants did not seek a bond hearing Thursday although their public defender says a request for bond may be made later.

Five people were charged with murder in Simpsonville this week in a slaying that police say also resulted from a custody dispute.
