BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The value of siting permits approved by North Dakota regulators last year for energy-related projects was nearly triple the amount in 2013.

The Public Service Commission says it approved more than $2.7 billion worth of siting permits, up from just over $1 billion in 2013.

Commission Chairwoman Julie Fedorchak says projects that were reviewed and approved will result in more pipelines, energy generation, transmission lines and gas processing facilities in the state.

Commissioner Randy Christmann says the PSC works to ensure projects are built as safe as possible and have a minimal amount of disruption. He says public input is a valuable part of the process.
