BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) - A manhunt is under way for an inmate who escaped from the Brunswick County jail in Bolivia.

Authorities tell local news outlets that 22-year-old William Earl Hewett of Southport got out of the jail after he posed as another inmate late Thursday.

Hewett was in jail on charges that included assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and communicating threats.

Deputies are advising people in the area to keep their cars and homes locked.

Hewitt is described as white with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.
