ESSEXVILLE, Mich. (AP) - Relatives say one of two snowmobile riders that the U.S. Coast Guard pulled from the frigid waters of Saginaw Bay has died.

The Bay City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1BDkAbF ) 48-year-old Allen Pero died Thursday at a hospital.

Authorities say Pero and 24-year-old Eric Molina were snowmobiling early Thursday near a Consumers Energy facility when they went through the ice and into the water. The Vassar men were in the water for nearly two hours before they were picked up by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Someone who heard the men calling for help contacted 911 and authorities alerted the Coast Guard. Relatives say Molina is recovering.
