BETHEL, Alaska (AP) - Police are investigating the shooting death of a woman found at a Bethel home.

Bethel police says 25-year-old Roseanne Pitka of Toksook Bay was found dead early Friday. Police say she died from an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

A 33-year-old man is charged with fourth-degree weapons misconduct, which is a misdemeanor for allegedly possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

KYUK (https://ow.ly/Ih1jH ) reports that according to a police affidavit, a woman who was at the house drinking with Pitka and the man reported seeing him holding onto Pitka. He told police he was thinking about shooting himself but decided to put the gun down on the bed. He said while doing so, he accidentally hit the trigger and fired into the bed.

Police found a bullet hole in the bed.
