BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Two brothers from Fort Yates convicted in federal court of assaulting a woman are asking for another day in court.

KXMB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1KggHvr ) Christopher Rainbow and Jordan Rainbow were found guilty of assault with a dangerous weapon and assault resulting in serious bodily injury by a jury earlier this month.

Christopher Rainbow’s attorney is asking for a new trial for his client because he says the jury wasn’t given adequate instructions on the charges. Jordan Rainbow’s attorney is asking for a mistrial due to testimony given by a doctor dealing who dealt with the victim’s injuries.

U.S. Attorney Tim Purdon has asked that the court to deny the motions.

Judge Daniel Hovland will rule at a later date.
