MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - People wanting to try ice fishing for the day can do so without buying a fishing license in Vermont.

The state is holding its second free ice-fishing day on Saturday.

The day will be highlighted by an activity-filled ice fishing festival hosted by Fish and Wildlife in conjunction with the Champlain Valley Hardwater Tournament Series.

Vermont’s Free Ice Fishing Day was started last year. It enables residents and non-residents alike to go ice fishing anywhere in Vermont for the day without a license.

The ice fishing festival will be held at the Malletts Bay Fishing Access Area on Lake Champlain in Colchester. It is free and open to everyone. Registration begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
