AUDUBON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man who fatally shot his roommate at a southern New Jersey residence has been arrested on murder charges.

Camden County prosecutors say Audubon police responded to the home shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday after a man called 911 and told the dispatcher he shot his roommate in the head. They found the body of 51-year-old Steven Johnston in a third-floor apartment.

Prosecutors say 50-year-old William Clark III told police that he and Johnston were having a conversation when Clark became upset and shot Johnston. Clark was taken into custody without incident and charged with first-degree murder.

He is being held on $500,000 bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
