NEDERLAND, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission is setting limits on moose hunting around Brainard Lake near Nederland after a bow hunter shot and killed a moose near a wildlife viewing area.

The rule bars moose hunting for a quarter-mile from the lake as long as the area is open to the public.

The Boulder Daily Camera reports (https://tinyurl.com/pcuwywz ) there was a public outcry after a bow hunter shot a bull moose in September and it died near people there to watch wildlife.

The hunter had a valid tag to shoot a moose in the area and Parks and Wildlife officials said it was a legal kill.
