TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Forecasters say an approaching winter storm could drop around a foot of snow in parts of northern New Jersey, but central and southern areas may only see an inch or so.

A mix of rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected to start across the state late Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Sussex County, which could potentially see 8 to 14 inches of snow, and Morris County, which could see 5 to 10 inches.

Winter storm warnings were also issued for Middlesex, Hunterdon and Somerset counties, where 2 to 5 inches of snow is expected.

But more rain then snow is expected in southern Jersey and in some central areas, where temperatures should be slightly warmer.
