HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) - A Cornelius, Oregon, man has been indicted on a second-degree manslaughter charge in a Jan. 4 head-on collision that killed a 22-year-old Hillsboro woman.

Washington County sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray said 53-year-old Adam Buchalski was also indicted Friday on reckless driving and fourth-degree assault counts. The assault charge relates to injuries suffered by his passenger. He was arrested Friday afternoon.

Ray says investigators determined that Buchalski was driving a Mercedes SUV northbound in a rural road’s southbound lane to pass another car in a no-passing zone.

The SUV collided with a southbound Honda Accord, killing the Honda’s driver, Maria Lara Martinez.
