NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - The Yaquina Head Lighthouse will open again for free public tours starting Sunday.

KVAL-TV reports (https://is.gd/ghrFid ) the repainting of the 1872 Lighthouse is complete.

The lighthouse’s signal light had been covered for 90 days while painting restoration work took place. The US Coast Guard polished the lighthouse lens and switched on the light earlier this week.

The scaffolding has now been removed and the fence taken down, allowing public access to the western most point of the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area headland.

The lighthouse is located about three miles north of Newport on the Oregon coast. The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area and the Interpretive Center are open seven days a week.
