SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - One of Florida’s top teen surfers is fighting to save her left eye after a surfing injury.

Florida Today (https://on.flatoday.com/1BEQnX9 ) reports that Storm Portman, 14, was surfing off Pelican Beach Park on Jan. 15 in 4-to-5 foot waves when her board leash became tangled around her foot and the nose of the board rammed into her left eye.

Doctors say she suffered a globe rupture and cold lose her eye.

Portman is the reigning Eastern Surfing Association girls’ champion.
