TUNICA, Miss. (AP) - A Tunica woman has died following a fire at her mobile home.

WREG-TV reports (https://bit.ly/16cf4lS) that Tunica County authorities identified her as 38-year-old Angela Starks.

Tunica County Chief Deputy Randy Stuart says the fire was reported just before midnight Friday on Edwards Avenue.

Stuart says a Tunica County sheriff’s deputy saw several people trying to get into the house to rescue Starks. The deputy also tried to enter, but was prevented because of heavy smoke and flames.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze, they found Starks in a bedroom. At least one family member lived with Starks, but wasn’t home at the time.

The state Fire Marshal and Tunica officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
