PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Forecasters are warning Pennsylvania residents about a winter storm that could bring more than a foot of snow in some areas.

The National Weather Service has posted winter storm warnings for many northern Pennsylvania counties, saying the storm could bring 8 to 12 inches to many.

The heaviest snow is expected from Sunday afternoon into early Monday in northwestern Pennsylvania and Sunday night into Monday afternoon for northeastern Pennsylvania.

Forecasters have posted a winter storm watch for many other areas, saying 10 to 14 inches of snow is possible in Carbon and Monroe counties, with lesser amounts in other areas.

Parts of the Philadelphia suburbs could get 5 to 9 inches, but forecasters say in those and other areas the precipitation might change to sleet and freezing rain on Monday.
