ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - A security guard fended off a would-be robber with a machete after the man tried to rob the business using only a hammer.

Anaheim police spokesman Lt. Bob Dunn tells the Orange County Register (https://bit.ly/1xmiNaH) that the suspect tried hold up an adult toy store around 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

A security guard tussled with the would-be robber and, during the brawl, the suspect broke a glass pipe over the guard’s head.

The guard grabbed a machete and hit the suspect once in the head, subduing him.

The man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and was hospitalized.

The guard will not face any charges.

Dunn says the suspect’s name has not been released.
