ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Albuquerque police say drivers should try to avoid an area of Interstate 40 where officials are trying to clean up an oil spill.

Police spokesman Simon Drobik said Sunday afternoon that the spill was affecting only the eastbound lanes of I-40 around 6th Street.

Drobik says traffic has been consolidated to one lane.

He did not say what caused the oil spill.

Anyone on I-40 eastbound should expect heavy delays.
