PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - Pawtucket police say a man sought after a Dec. 26 brawl in which an officer was injured has turned himself in.

Police said Sunday that 21-year-old Helder Andrade turned himself in on New Year’s Eve and was charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He has been released on his own recognizance.

Police Major Arthur Martins tells WPRI-TV (https://bit.ly/1BmNTQE) that Andrade is the younger brother of 23-year-old Aderito Andrade, who was arrested the night of the disturbance on charges including assault on a police officer.

Police were trying to break up a large fight in a parking lot near a nightclub when Officer Matthew Mello was punched in the head. He was treated and released at a hospital.

Martins said Hector Andrade was struggling with Mello when Aderito Andrade allegedly hit the officer.
