BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police in Burlington, Vermont now say the death of a 23-year-old man whose body was found in a house in the heart of this college community likely was killed.

Police were called to the Green Street house Saturday at about 6 p.m. by friends of Kevin Deoliveira, after family members became concerned they couldn’t reach him.

Deoliveira is a native of New Jersey currently residing in Burlington, police said.

Authorities say an autopsy Sunday determined his injuries were not consistent with an accident or suicide. They are not revealing the cause of death, saying that information is critical to the ongoing investigation.

The house is located near both the University of Vermont and St. Michael’s College campuses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Burlington police at 802-658-2700.
