WAIMANALO, Hawaii (AP) - How President Barack Obama spent the 15th day of his family’s holiday vacation in Hawaii that concluded Saturday night:

- BEACH TIME: Obama headed out to the beach to join his daughter Malia and friends at Bellows Air Force Station on a mostly sunny day. A dozen onlookers watched as the motorcade left the Kailua neighborhood, some holding signs that read “Drones Kill” and “Stop NSA Snooping.” A rainbow stretched over the mountains as the president made his way to the beach and its sparkling turquoise waters.

- CONDOLENCES: The president and first lady Michelle Obama took a break from vacation to send sympathy to the family and friends of former U.S. Sen. Edward W. Brooke, who died Saturday at age 95. Obama said in a statement that the former senator from Massachusetts stood at the front of the battle for civil rights and economic fairness.

- PUNCHBOWL CEMETERY: Obama and his daughters Sasha and Malia visited the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, where Obama’s maternal grandfather is buried. On the way, they passed another rainbow and onlookers waving the shaka sign.

- FAMILY VISIT: After a short drive past Obama’s alma mater - the Punahou School - Obama and his daughters stopped in Manoa for a brief visit with Maya Soetoro-Ng, Obama’s maternal half-sister, according to the White House.

- ROCK AND ROLL: Eddie Vedder, the lead singer of the rock band Pearl Jam, was paid a visit by Obama, Sasha and Malia in Kailua Saturday afternoon. The rock star had performed at a fundraiser for Obama in Florida in 2012.

- DINNER: As with last year’s vacation, the Obamas ate dinner with friends at Buzz’s Lanikai, a steakhouse and seafood restaurant across the street from Kailua Beach Park.

- VACATION OVER: Late Saturday night Obama and his family flew out of Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam on their return to Washington. Hawaii Gov. David Ige and his wife were at the airport with a delegation to say good-bye.
