ELKINS, W.Va. (AP) - A Randolph County man accused of killing his wife will undergo another competency evaluation.

Circuit Court Judge Thomas Keadle ordered the new evaluation for 84-year-old Theodore Newlon on Friday. The Inter-Mountain (https://bit.ly/1BmdDwu ) reports that Keadle also approved a defense request to continue Newlon’s trial, which had been set for Jan. 12.

Newlon is charged with murder and wanton endangerment. He is accused of fatally shooting his wife, 68-year-old Dora Newlon, in the couple’s home near Gilman in February 2012.

Defense attorney Kourtney Ryan told the judge that Newlon isn’t ready to proceed with a trial due to several medical conditions.
