VILLAGE OF CASDADE, Wis. (AP) - Firefighters from 18 departments were called to battle a stubborn house fire in frigid weather near Sheboygan.

Sheboygan County authorities say 200 firefighters helped battle the blaze Monday at a business located in a home in the Village of Cascade.

The fire was reported just before 10 a.m. Cascade Assistant Fire Chief Paul McMullen says it took firefighters four hours to bring the blaze under control and another four hours to mop up hot spots.

McMullen says the home is uninhabitable. He says so many departments were needed because pumper trucks and fire hoses were freezing up in the subzero temperatures.

Sheboygan Press Media reports one firefighter was hurt when he slipped on the ice.

Authorities don’t know what caused the fire.
