CRESSON, Pa. (AP) - State police say six staff members were assaulted during a New Year’s Day riot at an adolescent treatment facility in central Pennsylvania.
Three staff members were hospitalized in the melee Thursday at the Cresson Secure Treatment Unit in Cambria County. Two had broken noses. Another had a deep gash.
State police say they’ve arrested four people.
They say 20-year-old Tyrone McDuffie and 19-year-old Zaire Nelson are charged with rioting, assault by a prisoner and disorderly conduct.
Two younger residents will be charged in juvenile court.
Cresson’s website says it’s a secure treatment center serving 52 adjudicated male adolescents. It says many of them have failed to progress in less intensive programs.
