CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) - A burglary suspect driving a stolen car is dead after exchanging gunfire with Chandler police.

Chandler police say no officers or bystanders were injured in Monday afternoon’s incident.

Police say officers were trying to stop a stolen vehicle that had apparently been involved in a burglary.

They say the suspect stopped on a street and as officers approached, the suspect began shooting at them.

Officers returned fire, hitting the suspect who drove a short distance and stopped.

When officers caught up to the vehicle, they found the suspect dead.

Police haven’t released the name of the suspect yet.
