COOLIDGE, Ariz. (AP) - The public is being asked to submit comment about possible fee increases this year for Casa Grande Ruins National Monument.

Officials say there is a proposal to raise the current $5 entrance fee to $10. The fee would still cover admission for seven days.

Superintendent Karl Pierce says the park is committed to maintaining affordable admission prices but officials also want to be able to give the best experience possible.

Pierce says revenue from entrance fees go toward improving facilities, infrastructure and services for visitors.

Officials say increasing the fees would help with plans to give access to more of the monument.

Public comment will be accepted until Jan. 30 online, by mail or at the park’s visitor center.
