DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - Jury selection is scheduled to start in the trial of a former firefighter charged with setting five fires one morning in Durham.

Police said the fires were set in February 2013 in four off-campus apartments rented by University of New Hampshire students and in an apartment attached to a private residence. No one was hurt, but one building burned to the ground and three people sleeping in another building escaped.

Gregory Potter of Peterborough was charged with arson, criminal mischief and falsifying evidence. The 23-year-old Potter was an on-call firefighter and EMT. He resigned in April 2013.

Potter’s lawyers say his constitutional rights were violated during the investigation.

Jury selection is scheduled for Monday.
