LAKEPORT, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a man was found dead after fire ripped through a residence motel in Northern California’s Lake County.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/1rX9ux1 ) it took crews about an hour to control the blaze Sunday at the Lake Haven Motel.

The body of the man, believed to be in his 60s, was found inside one of the burned out units. His identity was not immediately released.

Northshore Fire Capt. Dave Emmel says three units in the building were gutted, and several others suffered water damage.

The two-story motel is used for long-term residency for low-income individuals and families.

At least 25 people were displaced and put up at a Red Cross shelter.
