NEW YORK (AP) - A man who admitted setting a fatal fire in his New York City apartment has been sentenced to 20 years to life in prison.

Wei Chu Hu (way choo hoo) was sentenced Monday. He pleaded guilty in November to murder and arson.

The January 2013 fire killed one of Hu’s neighbors, Renee Lea Willems. Their downtown Manhattan building was uninhabitable for nearly two years after the blaze.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. says Hu “turned a personal dispute into a senseless murder.” Police have said the 47-year-old thought his wife was cheating on him.

Hu’s lawyer did not immediately returned a call for comment.

The 66-year-old Willems lived upstairs from Hu. She tried to escape the blaze; her body was found on a fire escape.
