BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - Bethlehem police say a blood-covered man suspected of fatally stabbing his roommate confessed to a 911 dispatcher and arriving officers.

Police say 25-year-old Emanuel Cotto had blood on his clothing and hands and an empty knife sheath on his waistband as he emerged around 12:20 p.m. Sunday from his Fillmore Street home, blocks from Lehigh University.

According to police, he told officers: “My roommate is in there, but he is not alive. I took him out.”

Police say the roommate’s body had multiple stab wounds. They say officers found a tactical knife nearby with blood on it.

Police have not released the victim’s name.

Cotto is charged with criminal homicide. He’s jailed without bail and could not be reached for comment.

Court records didn’t list information on Cotto’s lawyer.
