FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in Lake County says the Round Lake Beach teenager killed in a single-car accident on New Year’s Day had three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system when he died.

Eighteen-year-old Jesus Lopez was alone when his vehicle slammed into a cement base of the Fox Lake Family Restaurant in Fox Lake just before 1 p.m. on New Year’s Day.

The Lake County News-Sun (https://trib.in/1D7oKeK) reports that Chief Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo says that alcohol was a factor on the crash “based on the toxicology results” that showed that Lopez’s blood-alcohol content was .24. The legal limit is .08.

Portillo says that Lopez died of multiple traumatic injuries.
