MADISONVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Traffic will be shifting in western Kentucky starting Monday, along the new Interstate 69/Breathitt-Pennyrile Parkway Interchange in Hopkins County.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says traffic along the new ramp will remain one lane and be restricted to 55 miles per hour. The ramp carries southbound Pennyrile Parkway traffic to I-69 south.

Transition to the new ramp is expected to be finished by around noon Monday. The new ramp is expected to help lessen traffic congestion through the work zone by taking the traffic out of the restricted section along a barrier wall.

On Tuesday morning, the contractor plans to make changes to the barrier wall along the main line of the Pennyrile Parkway through the old section of the interchange. The cabinet says delays are possible as the move is made.
